    New flipped front panels

    Hello 1010,

Are there any plans to sell flipped front panels? I love that we can flip them but the ocd in me can't stand the upside down text.

    Keep up the great work!

We order front panels in big batches a few times a year. We don't have any plans for flipped panels yet but will keep you in mind.

    Thank you,

    Aaron

I wonder whether grayscale would be up for doing these? It might even be worth refining the panel design a little, with some lines going from the parameters to each control knob, so it's a little easier to use?

LOVE Wes. He's amazing. I would totally be up for a Grayscale panel for the bitbox (in both orientations)

Yeah I think I would be for another face plate too, in both as well !

I just flipped for the first time.
Haven't ventured changing plates yet, but do like this setup.

          So much cleaner!
I have Trigger Riot just above, and Beatstep routed in the Mantis case.
Makes it nice to route "middle-case" and I can actually get to both now.
I didn't realize the inputs were flipped too, I was unsure about this....threw me off totally to begin with, but correct now.

You know...so I would love to have the ability to select if a square was mod input or cell.
I love having an additional 4 CV, but I wish they would display the level meter.

We are thinking about ordering some flipped UI front panels in our next batch. The current thought is that we would make a "Series 1" generic flipped panel. That way you can cross configure your firmware and run it flipped.

I would have suggested a generic panel as well. Good idea!

                +1 on the generic!
Any idea of the design, or what text?

Just call it "Onebox" since it's series one and you can run different firmware on one...lol

I am torn on the panel designs too, I love the fxbox white because the circuitry stands out really well....I love the toolbox gray though, but you can hardly see the design.
I think a black or dark gray faceplate with white or red circuitry...would be amazing!

I was thinking of labeling “Series 1” so it can be distinguished from series 2 modules. One box sounds interesting but then what would we use for the next one? Two box doesn’t work as well.

                Christine,
Here is just an example of an idea I think is a good one. (Captions also in pictures).
The Onebox I like, but coming from electronic communications background
and being a technical person, I see some of the following and it helps quickly identify what to expect:

Name and color based on the IO type of the series.

I think this would clearly define the type of Hardware module they are as well.
When someone sees rxbox then they know it doesn't have as many outputs and mostly inputs,
but txbox you know there are gates and cv outputs.

                Series 1 - rxbox
                (Receive IO Box)
                Red - R - Receive

                Series 2 - txbox
                (Transmit IO Box)
                Teal - T - Transmit

The toolbox front panel is considerably darker than the series 1 front panels. But it's subtle and hard to see in the product photos. We have a designer we work with on the front panels. We will work with him on the flipped UI/Generic panel design. Thanks for your input.

                  No problem Christine,
I love giving input and driving Aaron crazy, you were just shielding him on this one....haha

I agree about the photos, Modular Grid actually makes the toolbox look lighter than the fxbox too.
The toolbox actually shows the circuitry print better, than the fxbox...i was surprised seeing the opposite when getting.

                Serie 1 would be nice

We had some more discussions about this today. We haven't forgotten. It will be a few months before we have anything, but we are working on it.

That’s not OCD trust me....... maybe release the panel design to us so we can have our own made. I get my home made modules panelled up at a pretty decent worthwhile price, just can’t remember the name of the German company I use.

Sam, thanks for the link. We sometimes use FrontPanel express for prototyping.

All, we are gearing up for a panel order over the summer. We hope to have something for you in the next couple of months.

I will also take the opportunity to mention that we are now selling replacement front panels for those who want their module faceplate to better reflect which firmware they have switched to. We will add flipped panels when we have them in a few months. But if you bought a bitbox, but switched to synthbox and want a synthbox faceplate, you can now buy it on our store at 1010music.com.
