Best way to record audio from my phone into BB

Hi,
new to BB and was wondering the best way to capture audio from my phones headphone jack to the BB. I used a 3.5mm stereo jack but input volume was very low. Is there a prefered method to do this?

I have same issue recording my synthesizer. So I manually boost it ~ +15dB on bb sample record screen all the time.
Not sure why so, synth sounds ~15dB louder when output straight to the mixer or headphones

I have used my iPhone 7 Plus to capture some sounds from an app called ‘Groovebox’ by using a 3.5mm TRS cable from a lightning adapter into BB Audio 1 input.

I’m just having difficulty comprehending time signatures, bar lengths, record quantisation and capturing altogether whilst synced to Digitakt (master clock) and Digitone Thru
