  • Bitbox : Overdub recordings

    Hi 1010 !

what a great box you made, i can ow experience weird noises rythm and texture, and save them directly , joy !
Tho, i was thinking about an overdub function, si i can make evolving the file i made.

do you think you can add it to the next firmware ?

    Thanks

    Thanks for writing.

You already have the ability to record up to 16 loops and then mute and unmute them separately. I am not seeing the need to destructively overlay sound into an existing cell as opposed to recording a new one. Please let me know what I am missing.

Hey Aaron, I replied to a similar comment in another thread, but I will paraphrase here. Basically overdubbing is something I would personally find very useful for a few reasons. For one I think it would be useful to dedicate one or two cells as a dedicated "tape loop" type of effect where I could record and overdub live guitar or synth loops on the fly while leaving most of the cells available for triggering drum samples and other pre-recorded sounds. Additionally, I like to make ambient/drone/soundscape music, and another good feature that overdubbing could allow is being able to record back around through the beginning point to achieve a seamlessly looped drone texture. Finally I could see an overdub capable loop being used as a nice sort of tape echo effect if it could be configured in such a way that previous passes gradually fade out as new passes are recorded. I would absolutely love to see the ability to dedicate cells to "Frippertronics" style looping while keeping the rest of my bitbox's real estate available for my drum samples.

Hi! I fully agree with br3cy!
Overdubbing is a key feature for loopers during live sessions.
