It would be amazing if you could toggle one or more Cells to "persist" (retain the current sample and all settings) even when loading a new preset.
Example 1:
Load preset 1, 808 drum kit, Cells 1-8
* drum sounds load
* trigger drums to play a beat
While drums are playing, record vocals into Cell 16.
* Trigger Cell 16 in some looping pattern
* Persist Cell 16
Load preset 2, 909 drum kit, Cells 1-8
* beat continues to play with new drum sounds
* vocals continue to play in Cell 16, without interruption
(Cells persist across any number of kit changes until persist is disabled)
Example 2:
Load preset 1, 808 drum kit, Cells 1-8
* drum sounds load
* trigger drums to play a beat
* Persist Cell 1 (bass drum)
Load preset 2, 909 drum kit, Cells 1-8 (but only 2-8 load)
* beat continues to play with new drum sounds, except bass drum, which is still the one from the previous kit
Disable persist for Cell 1
* beat continues to play with 909 kit sounds but now including the 909 kit bass drum
Ok, that's my big idea!
Another possible (much simpler) solution:
If a cell is left empty for a given kit, just leave whatever was in that cell before the kit was loaded, and also don't interrupt that cell's sample if it's currently playing
Thanks,
Cowboy
