  • Polyphony question

One of the Firmware updates mention something about voices. Does that mean that maximum polyphony is now more flexible (global voice stealing)? Meaning that you can trigger more than 4 samples at the same time on one pad if the others are not in use ?

what's the maximal polyphony of the blackbox?

    thanks

That is correct, since v1.6.x (and 1.5.9 betas that preceded it).

You have a pool of 64 voices shared between all pads as opposed to the previous 4 per pad before.

1010music would be able to firmly confirm but from my understanding, the total 64 voices become a commun pool of voices.

Blackbox still only has 4 voice polyphony per pad and can handle about 16 samples playing at once before it starts to wig out.
Bitbox MK2 and bitbox micro have 24 voices of polyphony shared across all of the pads. The 64 samples refers to the maximum amount of samples that can be contained in a multisample.

absent a voice stealing algorithm, a per pad limitation definitely makes sense

Oh no man, now you're really confusing me here. Steve confirmed above that there is a pool of 64 opposed to the 4 voices per pad on previous versions. Can someone confirm the actual voice polyphony count?

To be clear....you now have a 24-note pool to use however you like.

You can load up to 64 wav files per pad or 80 per preset - whichever comes first.
