  • Strange Latency Issue while Resampling

I was creating some loops and wanted to resample inside the Blackbox and had bad phasing issues so I took a look:

i take a kick from Mars

you can see, the first Kick is missing a short piece at the start (and with that it’s transient that is very easy to notice when listening to the loop)

i can work around this with percussive patterns, by sampling more then I need and cut it down, but that’s not that easy with stuff that hast a more linear waveform.

anyone having this issue too? Any workarounds? Bug? Will it get fixed?

Came here to find a solution to the exact same problem after trying resampling for the first time today.

Retested it this morning. Different kick, different cables, different power supplies. All the same.

when I use a cable I can see the latency in the „correct“ way, showing the dac and adc converting time.

Maybe the firmware knows adc times and to compensate this on recordings, it offsets sampling by that amount and the firmware doesn’t turn that off when doing resampling?

      using 1.6.5 btw

No response at all from 1010. Is this a good, or a bad sign?

It's not any kind of sign.

I read through your post yesterday. I also tested this and agree there is phasing. This issue has been added to the bug list and will be addressed. Thank you for the report.

On a side note, did you experience the newly recorded clip to be the same amplitude as the pad that you recorded? Any differences?

Thanks for you reply! I must be honest, I don’t fully understand your question

My bad - Are you experiencing a volume loss on the new recording? (compared to the source).

sorry for taking so long. Work kept me away from my BB.
yes it seems that volume goes down when resampling:
You can hear and see that. I used both in a sequence and resample that sequence to make it visible:

I've settled on a +4.5 gain when resampling so that the volume isn't noticeably lower in the new sample

If this ends up being a feature or a bug of bb, then the easy fix will be to have the resample option adjust the gain automatically behind the scenes to avoid any user-side surprises.
