  • Any indication on when all the 2.0 bugs will be fixed?

    1. USB MIDI becoming unresponsive after period of time.
    2. Hung notes when recording into pads (requires a restart)
    3. Cannot add notes to end of a sequence of odd length
    4. In trigger mode with long samples sustain is ignored
    Thanks!

Please also share the steps to reproduce each of those. Specifically.

I'm definitely experiencing #1 consistently. I can't predict when exactly it will happen because I'm working & lose track of time, but it happens every session with the Blackbox. My best guesstimate would be around the 15-20 minute mark with the sequencer running. It is becoming quite frustrating because I'm prepping a live set. I find disconnecting & reconnecting it fixes it.

I'm using an Akai LPD8 controller. The Blackbox is receiving clock from a Roland MC-707, and sending clock out to a Korg Electribe 2. I'm really not doing anything intensive with the Akai & Blackbox. I've got the pads mapped 1-8, and I map volume for each pad to the controls.

I need a broader understanding of your setup, workflow, and connections.

Do you hit play once on the 707 and 15-20 minutes later it is frozen? What is happening during that 15-20 minutes in terms of MIDI? How do you power the blackbox?

          Thanks Steve. Yes, that's correct.

The MC-707 is the master & sending only clock to the other devices. I hit start on it & everything kicks off.
The MC-707 only controls MIDI channels 1-8, which are local to the device only.
MIDI connections are only going one way. The Blackbox is assigned to MIDI channel 16 and connected from 5-PIN MIDI out from the MC-707 to the TRS MIDI in on the Blackbox.
          --------------------------------------------
          MC-707 -> Blackbox -> Electribe2

          --------------------------------------------

The Akai LPD8 is connected to the USB device port on the Blackbox. I have 2 patches saved on the Akai, both assigned to Channel 16, each used to trigger pads 1-8 & 9-16 respectively. The 8 knobs control only the volume of each sample.

Most of my tweaking is done on the MC-707 & Electribe2. Maybe 10% of the time I'm adjusting volume on the Blackbox, so apart from the clock, there shouldn't be a lot of MIDI activity hitting the BB.

The Blackbox is powered by the stock power adapter.

This setup works perfectly, until it doesn't. Just to clarify too, there are no audio locks up. It's literally just the MIDI connection from the Akai LPD8 & the Blackbox. Disconnecting & reconnecting it on the back seems to rectify the error.

Thank you. I always appreciate this level of detail. have you done much to isolate the issue? meaning, remove one piece and see if the issue persists. Or, start with one connection and build until it fails. I get that it can be time-consuming to chase these things. I have an LPD-8 and want to try reproducing your setup as much as possible. How much triggering (tapping the pads) from the LPD-8 are you doing? Help me understand your workflow - even a short video. We had a similar issue in the bluebox and I'd like to see this solved.

Hi Steve, posted the Midi Bug 09-15-2021 with my Adafruit Trellis M4. Since yesterday i have a CME Widi Bud and the MIDI also becomes unresponsive after a short period of time.

          Original Post:

Triggering of Pads and Sequences via MIDI Chan 1 does suddenly broke (Clock source: None)
Unplug USB Device helps for a short period of time then it breaks again.

Can you post the link to the other thread? I remember this video and recall there was an issue...but I can't recall at the moment.

          Hi Steve,

I've already uploaded all the videos regarding these issues to both Facebook and here in the appropriate threads. I can do more videos if you want. I I'll just leave the gopro recording and show you as these happen every session.

Edit: I'm going to make more videos tomorrow so come back then.

It wouldn't hurt to add the videos to this post if they are applicable. Otherwise, I need to search for them.

I get #1 because we are working on that. The best bug reports include either steps to reproduce (if available) or maybe a video.
