  • Clock In not working

Trying to sync bb via clock in with eurorack modules ( pnw, magneto, o&c etc ) but it doesn't react in any way to tempo i'm sending. Tried different ppqs on pnw and blackbox, no result. The clock out is working fine.

TEST for comparison - 3.5mm mono TS(eurorack standard) connecting clock INPUT of the BlackBox V2.0

to the OUTPUT of the following

    - Pittsburgh Modular Time Runner - confirmed working

    - 4ms DLD clock outputs - confirmed working

    - Westlicht Perfomer - confirmed working

    - Noise Engineering Horologic solum - confirmed working

    - Ladik Clockworks S-010 - confirmed working

    - Abstract Data ADE32 (octa) - confirmed working

Stopped there as I've got a patch running and don't want to disturb any other sources, I'm sure there's plenty of users that be happy to add to these results.

Selecting the correct PPQ on the BB was required to align with what I'm assuming was the varying gate length of the sources, not all of which can be modified.

The BlackBox seemed to accept all the sources I threw at it like a champ.

The clock input does not allow incoming ticks to initiate the Sequence play ( thankfully) so to confirm sync PLAY needs to be engaged on the BB, having the metronome switched on will give you an audio confirmation of tempo without the need to load any sequences, at least that's the way I've carried out this test.

Hope this helps in some way

well, after hours of trying different settings on both sides I got that working with the ppq 24 on pam and ppq 1 on bb. and it's not working when I set equal ppqs or ppq on bb is higher than 4

Finally I lost my patience fiddling with the ppq settings and bought pexp-2 for pam with midi out, now everything's ok

I'm pleased you found a solution that works for you, out of curiosity are you using only the midi out for clock syncing or have you tried the gate out ? The manual (pg 26 Pam's new )states they are fixed at 50% duty and I'd be interested to know how that meshes with the BB's expectation of input. Don't drive yourself mad with it dude, it's just me being inquisitive but if you do test it out please let me know.

50% duty cycle should work great with all our products. We have had problems in the past with short blips, less than 1ms in length.

also there is currently a bug, that the bpm display in songmode screen is not beeing updated to reflect the actual bpm the box is running on.
so only way to check if it really is in sync with external clock is to change the clock and listen if the bb is changing too

That's right. Watch the bars:beats counter in the upper left to make sure it is resetting and clocking in sync with what you are trying to follow.
