Blackbox Input Levels ~6 dB Difference!!??

Bought a blackbox to use mainly as a looper with my other hardware on the road. Noise Floor on right channel is 5.8 dB greater whether input is used or not. I am already out of the country and do not know if it would be possible to exchange for at least 2 months. ANYBODY ELSE HAD THIS ISSUE??

I am happy with the unit in general, however, it has glitched out a few times when clocking to MIDI in and even at other random times on the SEQ display boxes...That level difference is no laughing matter and may be a deal breaker when I am fed through a PA

Did I simply get a faulty unit?

I think I’ve seen someone else report this issue. Contact their support email.

Thanks - I figured that could not be normal!

my unit has some randomness to the noisefloor, sometimes its same on both channels, sometimes one is higher than the other, but in general it doesnt affect recording at all.
its so low to begin with that even tiny variations in power source can have a visible impact. (my values float around -60dB, highest being -54dB, lowest -63dB)
i see that you are using Elektron cable, afaik those are pretty long, and can cause higher noise floor. Try using the included cable if you can, its short and has great shielding.
if you want to make sure that your unit is not faulty, record some test tones. see if the end result has variations in volume.

Thanks all - Support was fast getting back to me and confirmed that it was a display issue. By the way, I was not hearing an overt audible difference - just kind of a fidelity freak sometimes
I will examine the channels when I put the SD back in the computer and update you all if I see measurable differences between channel levels/spectrum...

So here are the results -
no signal on input: right channel offset by ~8dB
analog noise/hat recorded: levels are even and phase looks good

I'm still on firmware 2.0.0 but I too have this issue with it showing an 8 dB difference, but it sounds fine.

I have the same: right input is around 20 dB more noisy than left input and it makes no difference if something is put in or not. This happens with every power supply, cable or battery that I have tested. Can you tell us what the solution was? What do you mean by "display issue". I mailed the support as well but did not get a reply yet.

Hi all, got my blackbox yesterday and immediately saw the noise floor on the right input channel (-66.4 dB left, -48.4 dB right).

Did some tests and got the same results as stated above: The noise is recorded to the wave file with no input connected or input connected without any signal.

But hey, we don't want to record silence Recording a signal (sine wave for testing) does not show any additional noise in the record that doesn't belong there.

So my tests showed me the same pictures (blackbox levels, record analysis) as above and I can live with that - just my thought.
