  • Have I reached BB limit, memory cuting out.

Hi! I have been having a new issue recently. This happens often now. This is something I never encountered before, 2 years bb user.
I will be working on a beat, going trough long files looking for samples to use. All of a sudden BB will forget the wave file from a sertain point. It will display the waveform from that point as silence. On some ocations it will display the waveform intact but play it from a sertain point as silence.
I'm working with huge amounts of data on the sd card. I use SanDisk ultra 1tb xc1 A1. It's filled whit over 500gb. I suspect this may be the issue, mabye its to much for BB to handle.
I also often have deleted files directly in the BB, can that cause some issue? I don't know, just speculating.
My setup has worked flawlesly for quiet a while. I kept filling the sd with new material, thats the only change, more data. So I figured that may be the issue..
Whenever i encounter this glitch I save, pull out my battery and resume. The issue is gone after a restart. I wanted you guys to know about this, maybe I gone to far when loading over 500gb of data. I hope it's not an issue with my unit, I dout that. For the record I have just reformated the Sd. Problem presist. I use ver 2.1.0. Maybe thays to old also. Well thank you for your time and grat support. Peace out!

Remember to keep track of how many samples you have loaded in each Preset. The Blackbox can have 80 total samples per project, 64 per pad.
If you're experiencing unexpected behavior without the sample limit being reached, Format the micro sd card using SD Card Formatter, this will often repair errors the card may be suffering from. You may also want to experiment with the SD Modes under the Tools.

What are the specs of the WAV files? While the Blackbox can playback various sample rates and bit depths, I recommend converting your samples to 24Bit 48kHz for the best performance. This is especially useful on longer samples.

I just performed a sd format using card formatter. Forgot to mention that. I always convert my samples to 24bit 48khz wav. The problems persist. I think Bb cant keep up in sertain moments, when I scroll though large files (Granual mode). The waveform will render in the upper "fastscroll" so to speak, but sometimes fail to render as a display in the actuall view. Or sometimes it will render visually but not be audiable. Waiting wont fix it, only a save and restart. This happens daily. If it was an sd card problem a restart wouldnt help right? At least if we are talking corrupt data.

How long are the files you're using? How many granular pads are you running in each preset? You may hitting a CPU wall.

This is a buffer issue we addressed in a recent update. You may consider a more recent firmware. The blackbox streams from the sd card. The buffers are not infinite. If you are loading several (or even a few) long audio files it is possible to hit that wall.
