Checked updates and very happy to see the global midi seq in channel there. Thank you so much for including that.
Not to bombard with too many demands ... just wondering if there are any plans to look at the way midi parameter assign/learn works?
ie: assigning each parameter a fixed cc number - allowing the user to set and assign their own parameter controls.
One that comes to mind and would be ace for my personal workflow - would be to be able to select a Seq cell without it triggering it to play or stop ..just selecting the cell like you would with the knobs when on the Seq screen.
Not a biggy - I know. Just allows the user to select the midi out channel via the sequencer without triggering. It acts like a multi 16 channel midi thru feature. Pretty cool really.
Anyways, thanks again for another up date. I will play around with my external midi gear when I get the chance and report back.
Yeah, that's right. I just meant that the BB Seq's are already like a 16 channel midi thru by default when set up this way. No midi thru settings required. Would be amazing to be able to touch a pad from a midi controller to select each call (select a different midi instrument) with out it playing as such. Just a thought...
Happy to say that so far everything is working as stated and the bug fixes have helped speed up the process nicely. I've run through a few of my older progects and all looks good. MIDI is working well and the MIDI thru also working well. Thanks for the update and the fixes. Not losing notes in sequences when swithing between KEYS and MIDI is a great time saver.
Clip 1:
I can not playback a clip when in the waveform view. Is this really intended behaviour in clip mode? Seems very odd that I'm not able to use the play button to audition the clip.
clip mode requires the clock to be switched on, so you need to push the physical play button (not just the soft play button), that’s by design for time-stretching and other uses which require syncing
All right, well in that case the Play button shouldn't really be visible in clip mode. Seems unnecessary/lazy to leave it visible there without any functionality.
I'm experiencing audio artefacts when playing audio clips that have quantise/sync enabled. I have Blackbox receiving clock & transport from my Digitakt, if I play the clip without the Digitakt running and with quantise/sync on it plays fine, if I have Digitakt running it's like you can hear it trying to sync the clip, if I turn the quantis/sync off its fine but then of course doesnt sync.
Here is a clip of it happening, 1st half is playing the clip on its own, 2nd half is with Digitakt running, I'm gradually reducing the sync setting down from 1/16, 1/8, etc.
This happens in this latest version and also in 3.01, I don't remember it happening on the old Blackbox I had about a year ago, not sure what version that was running.
Also, it only seems to be noticeable on long constant sounds like string/pads.
Sounds good, looking forward to installing and testing.
I guess asking for odd length sample recording is out of the question for this release?
And on a similar topic, there was a post about quantize settings for layers in the 3.0.1 feedback. Specifically that if you're dealing in odd length sequences with quant set to 1/64 then switching in time between layers is very difficult as you have to be split second with your tapping. So some kind of 'play through' option that sticks to the layers seq length would be super useful.
Midi Through is dependend on the Channel of the Midi Seq under [SEQS]. Midi Seq Channel under [TOOLS] seems to determine which ingoing input channel (as from the external device) is allowed to get through.

Wrote a new track on 3.0.7 using pretty much all of features - multis, granular, recording, effects, midi in/out. All the quirks ive been having have been sorted and worked fookin fantastic...but after about an hour of use, it started to get a bit weird and having quite a few issues?!?! Samples that id recorded on the guitar that originally worked started slipping half way through the sample, vocal slices cutting out and also if I resampled the whole song it was fine to listen back too, but If I renamed the sample, it would cut off the start and only leave me with 2/3 of the sample?
Apart from the weirdness later on, it was perfect...except going through all the menus to try to find the arp, but I'm sure the new manuals and videos will tell me where to find it
I have 2 of the same cards, advised as the best ones to get from the SD card thread, which are backed up and formatted each time I update the firmware.
Same issue here. I got a whole live set with some backing tracks and samples on BB. After the update, it suddenly lost a number of folders. I re-uploaded and remapped them back, and it worked for some time, but now they’re gone again. Using the stock SD that came with BB. First owner. I have a gig in a week, so the situation sounds pretty risky. Will try formatting the card, but if the folders disappear again, I’m reverting back to version 2. That is, if they don’t disappear at the day of the gig, otherwise I’m screwed.
thx for answer!
setup: elektron machinedrum - blackbox 1010
connect md(sp404mk2) midi in bb midi out
in pads mode when I try to send note (c2 - info - conf - pad note) from bb to md(c2 - 1 track note) that track don't play at md
but in midi seq c2 play and in pads seq(midi out 1) some pads trigs md tracks
Really happy with the update. Midi is super smooth, and its a breeze to control multiple devices with Blackbox as midi host/sequencer, aswel as control sample pads with external midi. Seq parts and song mode overhaul are wonderful. Great job 1010music!
