    • I’m getting a -20db noise on phones and channel 1 even with included 1010 power adapter? Never noticed this before latest update?
Could this be something to do with the separate channel levels addition in this update?

Tried again this evening with different leads, made sure record levels are way down, and still getting noise at -20db even when not playing any samples?
Tested with analog synth through same channels on mixer and all quiet?
Wondering if this is a USB lead issue? Will try another ISB lead tonight!

When nothing is connected to the Input, and you see resting levels of -20dB, please contact us directly. Your unit may need recalibration.

Sorry been away for a while! Thanks Steve!

so if your values were 50 on the CC & 50 internally, you'd get 2500/100 = 25, which is what you'd expect. what I'm seeing is more like 50 + 50 = 100 then divided by 2 back to 50.......

this is actually described in the v3.0 manual; the two modulation values are not scaling each other (multiplication) but work by summing.
this, for me, results in the counterintuitive behaviour & up-one-end control I have seen. :-(

      • In current version 3.0.9 is it possible to use the keys section to play an external instrument? Tried by having a sequence set to both keys and midi, midi channel set to appropriate channel.

It works if I have a sequence programmed, but not if I am just trying to play it using keys. Which I would do, and then record a sequence that is played.

I can play the external instrument using an external keyboard fine, using midi thru. But here I am trying to use it in a mobile setup, no external keyboard is present.

Press the Keys button, on the top left of the screen, tap the tiny grid and select SEQ at the bottom. This will make the Keys follow the currently selected sequence.

Hi Lucas, thanks for getting back to me. Ah, got it! I thought the SEQ there was showing which sequence was selected using the above grid. Not a function itself.

      • Did I miss something or is the upgrade from 1.7 to 3.0.9 supposed to break everything? All my presets have the sequences and sounds somewhat intact but the song modes are completely lost. Is there any way to convert between the presets to v3?

Steve I found this really confusing and definitely not logical like you say. When you are in the sequence home screen, you only see the selected sequence (A-D) and to me clear should definitely clear that sequence version only. Then in the detail view you see buttons to choose between the versions and clear all IMO would make a lot more sense there. Still the most important thing for me is a smooth workflow. What do you want to do more often: clear all versions of the sequence or only the one you are currently working with? I would argue that the current one is definitely needed more often (when recording and maybe doing mistakes...) and now you need to dig that up behind a menu.

I was actually pretty happy with the 1.7 version. Updated today to 3.0.9 and I can see a lot of nice stuff (sound editing options, EQ!, new song mode with caviat, etc.) but the core usability went for worse. This sequence clearing is one and other is the new song mode. It is a lot easier to use, true, but a lot more limited (cannot trigger short sequences like breaks during a song section). Also you cannot really use one long sequence with shorter ones since you cannot trigger that in your first song section without making the song section as long as the long sequence. So you have to put it to "keep" mode in all of your song sections and then always keep that sequence enabled in the sequence view. If you only could record live the pattern changes in the new song mode in addition to the grid -> that would be awesome.

          • 1.7 was released a few years ago. Yes, there have been many changes since then. You are not required to update. Many of these changes come directly from user requests here on the forum, and from the questionnaire we published before starting the work on v3. Please check the Blackbox 3.0 upgrade guide for the changes and for advice and tips for making the transition.

If you are upgrading to blackbox 3.0 firmware from a previous version, this guide will introduce you to the new functionality in 3.0 and explain how to migrate your old sequences and Song Sections to the new approach. • I read on the update page that 3.07 is considered a stable release, but there doesn't appear to a link for it anywhere? I also read people talking about bugs in 3.09 and do not see anywhere that you consider it to be stable?

This is all confusing. Have you deleted 3.07? If so why is there not a note explaining why? Or is it somewhere else? What update is the least buggy? I want to use this thing, not beta test it.

Ok TY. The text on that page refers to 3.07 as the current stable release, might be a good idea to update it to avoid confusion.

3.0.7 was also a stable release. Under that post is the updated 3.0.9 firmware, where we fixed a few bugs.
