Can We Use One Korg Nanokontrol Studio To Control Blackbox & Bluebox Together?

Not if you want to control them both simultaneously. Bluebox does not thru CC data. Only MIDI Clock. Connect first to blackbox - then to bluebox. -
Thanks Steve,
So regarding connections and mapping CC messages, (Using 1 NanoKontrol to control both the Black & Blue boxes.
Should I connect NanoKontrol to the BlueBox and map the CC controls via the device USB port - Then disconnect and plug into the BlackBox and do the same thing.
Then leave the NanoKontrol connected to the USB device port of the BlackBox and connect the BlackBox midi out to the midi in of the BlueBox so I can control both devices?
Would this be the way to first map CC messages then control both devices?

The black and blue box will respond to the CC that was mapped to individual controls. If you map the same CC to a parameter on both boxes, that CC will control both. You will need to take care of which CC goes where from the NanoKontrol. Because of this, you don't need to connect to the devices separately to map incoming CCs.Leave a comment:

Thanks Steve,
So am I correct in doing the following:
Connect NanoKontrol to the BlueBox and map the CC controls via the device USB port - Then disconnect and plug into the BlackBox and do the same thing.
Then leave the NanoKontrol connected to the USB device port of the BlackBox and connect the BlackBox midi out to the midi in of the BlueBox.
Would connecting the devices this way allow me to control both units via one NanoKontrol unit?
Because I will have mapped the same NanoKontrol buttons to each unit whilst each unit was connected to the NanoKontrol (On its own) - How will each unit then know which CC message is for which unit?
For example, If I map button A on the NanoKontrol to adjust an eq parameter on the BlueBox when the NanoKontrol is connected only to the BlueBox - Then map that same button to adjust the volume on the BlackBox - How will the devices know what the CC message should control when interconnected as above?
Would I need to use the "Scene" button on the NanoKontrol to switch between the devices?

There is no switching required. As needed, you must map the controls from the NanoKontrol to both boxes. In blackbox version 3, a few options exist for how MIDI flows through the box. We also added a new Thru mode that may be helpful depending on how you use the sequencer in the blackbox.Leave a comment:

Thank you for your quick response Steve,
If I were to connect the NanoKontrol Studio to the Blaackbox via USB, How would I then connect the Blackbox to the Bluebox in order to pass CC thru the Blackbox to the Bluebox?
Is it possible to pass Midi CC thru the Blackbox to the Bluebox?
How would I then be able to switch between each device with the one NanoKontroller?
Many thanksLeave a comment:

I have a Korg NanoKontrol Studio & both the BlackBox & BlueBox.
Is there a way to use one NanoKontrol to control both the Blackbox & Bluebox and switch between the two without having to manually unplug and replug the USB cable between each unit?Tags: None
