Fades and/or zero crossing points on looping within a sample.

I watched a video yesterday about the Black Box. There was a section where the loop points within a sample was demonstrated. It seemed difficult to find looping points without audible clicks being heard. Fades and/or zero crossing points on looping points within a sample would be great to alleviate this

    Hi Jack,
We have this request on our wishlist. We will consider it for a future release.

For the record, we have implemented granular as a recommended solution to cross fading for loops.

I'll second this... using the beat slicer functionality as a guidepost to automate discovery of loop points might be a great place to start.

idk why a lot of modern groove boxes lack this feature, which was there in 80th in most of samplers... +1

+1 for this feature also. No-clicks-in-my-mix, please!

Bi directional looping was a big draw for me to BB having used this feature on the Akai S5000 and Ensoniq EPS . In my experience it takes time to find points that don’t click or pop when the loop points are reached but it’ll be doable without any changes to the way BB currently works, like I said it just takes time. I wonder if auto detecting zero crossing points etc would actually just complicate the wav image with hundreds of such points (maybe it wouldn’t but in my experience samples are littered with clean loops.)

Fades are cool but I haven’t heard this feature implemented without some dip in volume at the loop points (which can be useful on short tonal samples, like applying an lfo to amp, but less so with longer tones)

It’d be cool to see if 1010 could come up with a new solution to this not seen before or just a different way of doing something that already exists. Maybe some kind of overlapping loop system that means the start and finish constantly overlap? Maybe fader curve combinations that have little detriment to the volume of the tone.

Maybe asking a lot here looks like Aaron and team have their work cut out for them if they even implement a quarter of the wishes on this list. Exciting times ahead though.

This has to be top of feature requests. The Bitwig sampler was unusable for me until they sorted this out. I suppose a work around is to load up pre loop optimised samples but X-fade would be nice

I was watching a video by Gaz Williams on the tasty chips gr-1. If loop fades could be controlled with attack and decay (?) like this that would be very cool. I appreciate that the gr-1 is dedicated to doing this being a granular synth, but this strikes me as an intuitive way to do it. Don’t know about the granular side of this could it be achieved by somehow linking sample pads in groups of the same sample?

Hi, I hope to be a future owner of a blackbox, in the meanwhile, I could suggest some granular synthesis parameters in a future firmware update, like sample scanning, loop points, reverse and backwards playback in a really tiny section of a sample, variable loopspeed (so you could use single cycle waveforms!) loop softening

Forum house keeping an' all that.

                        Hey jack

Yeah i’ve liked this thread too, I was thinking that there maybe some way to combine the loop fades with granular synthesis sort of a 2 birds with 1 stone kind of a deal after all on a very basic level the only difference between looping a sample and granular synthesis is the length of the loop. I’m thinking of the digitakt with this.

So I had a couple days to play and I haven’t had too many problems finding clean loop points. I don’t know if this is per design but I’ve noticed sometimes the large wave file has multiple lines about 1px that appear at different points in the wave. I’ve just been using 2 of these with similar heights to guide my start and end points then using the zoom to fine tune. It didnt take long at all compared to how long i’d Spend in the past. My trouble now is if you set the note to toggle to hear the loop and then zoom in the screen snaps to cursor/play head causing the screen to scroll left and right. Any chance this could be disabled? I think it creates conflict with the knob functions too my loop start and end swapped functions briefly.

                            I'm still on the 0 crossing/fades train.
