Thanks for the legwork - this thread helped me figure out what was clear neither from the manual or the menu.

I do rather wish recording could be cued up. I'm fortunate that over the last day I did a reorg of my devices, and my new BlueBox is close at hand, but I could easily see a situation where the BB is over there and the instrument is over here and I want to set it to record there and then hit play on the instrument over here without using my toes.

well, my oppo told me he wants our new album to be 'all at the same tempo' so I can use the bluebox as master clock without worrying about tempo changes. the reason is I want to run the stems in reaper later, & sync up more sequenced parts.

ah- has anyone got the bluebox clocking stuff using its usb host port? not working here. I have a blokas midihub hanging off the usb, other devices (blackbox &c) hanging off that.

I wish there was any insight on MIDI communication in the project settings menu. Something to show clock is being received and the tempo absolutely should reflect the incoming tempo in the project setup screen (right now it just locks but shows whatever number value you last had it set for. MIDI clock feels like it's in beta to me. It's not reliable, causes the UI to lock up and doesn't play well with others. So far the only device it worked well with was the ZOIA. I can't get it to clock Poly Beebo and it freezes when clocked to OP-Z.

I've been happily using my bluebox as a clock-master, & sending clock from it to my h/w sequencers & effects... reading this, however, prompts a question: if the bluebox is slaved to an incoming clock & transport commands, will it somehow register a tempo change?

I've been loading the wavs from the bluebox into reaper for further processing, or to send the project to an associate who has reaper but not a bluebox.

I've once or twice forgotten what the tempo was, & have been able to look at the bluebox project XML to find it. but what happens if the clock is coming from outside the bluebox? what does the XML say in this instance, & does it reflect any variations in tempo?

for that matter, what does the XML do if you're using the bluebox as the master clock & make a tempo change during recording? I'd like to understand the structure of the midi data that's stored with a project- the mixer CCs & the clock particularly, & whether these can be manipulated in other systems.

(also laying audio tracks off into the bluebox from an old korg d1600 multitrack, because this is far faster than exporting them as files via the korg's tired old usb 1.0 interface; some of these have midi clock associated with them- would be good to transfer this 'data' along with the audio)

Version 1.0.11 fixes the sync problem--and doesn't break anything else important to the best of our knowledge.

Please it is very important to correct this, an efficient workflow is impossible if you cannot synchronize in several recording takes from external midi

Hi Aaron. Is there a plan to fix this?
    thanks!

I stand corrected. As of version 1.0.6 it is not possible to record while synchronizing to an external source.

I can also confirm that holding the record button on the Bluebox and having Eurorack module Pamelas New Workout with PEPX1 expander sending Play Transport MIDI command will not start Recording while holding the recording button on the Bluebox.

Mine is still in the mail, so I can't test ... but I certainly believe you guys. Given Aaron's initial comment, this sounds like a bug, so hopefully will get fixed very soon

I can confirm that holding the record button on the Bluebox and having external source send MIDI play does NOT begin recording in sync. I've tested this with multiple pieces of gear (Deluge, Akai Force).

Making Bluebox as the MIDI master works, but since the Bluebox seems quite limited on the MIDI front, my suggestion for how this might be better implemented is I'd like to see the ability to hit record (w/out play) to arm recording on the Bluebox, and then using another piece of MIDI gear as the master to initiate play/stop of recordigns.
