Shorter File length than the others - not sure why

    Hello,

I decided to record my live jam from my mini modular system onto the SD card and then pull the overall sections into Ableton for further editing.

What I found was that I have one file that seems shorter than the rest and I was not sure why this happened.

If you notice in the image, track 5 is shorter than the rest of the tracks.

Any thoughts on why this happened?

    My setup:
    1) Firmware Version 1.0.7
    2) 8 track config
    - Track 1 = In from !L
    - Track 2 = In from 1R
    - Track 3 = In from 2L
    - Track 4 = In from 2R
    - Track 5 = In from 4L
    - Track 6 = In from 4R
    - Track 7 = No assignment
    - Track 8 = 6L, 6R
    3) Using the 16gig SD card that came with the system.

    Thanks,
    Brett

    Hi,

When I did my first recording last night I noticed that when I pulled in all of the audio files from the SD card, into Ableton, I had an issue where the main track was well out of sync with the rest of the other tracks that were recorded.

I would have expected that I could pull in all of the tracks and everything would be in sync for editing.

    My setup:
    1) Firmware Version 1.0.7
    2) 8 track config
    - Track 1 = In from 1L
    - Track 2 = In from 1R
    - Track 3 = In from 2L
    - Track 4 = In from 2R
    - Track 5 = In from 4L
    - Track 6 = In from 4R
    - Track 7 = No assignment
    - Track 8 = 6L, 6R
    3) Using the 16gig SD card that came with the system.

I am happy to share the files if that helps.

Thank you for your time and help,
    Brett

I'd like to see them. Are you using MIDI? What is connected to the bluebox? [email protected]

      thanks

          Hi,

Sorry about the duplicate post: it was not my intention to do so.

As to your question on what is attached to the device:
          1) Audio Outs:
          a) out 1 = to my DAW
          b) out 2 = to my modular FX unit as an FX Send
          2) Audio in:
          a) Defined above
          b) All audio inputs are direct from my modular

          MIDI:
          1) connected directly to the USB Host port is my Launch Control XL

What is the best way to send you the audio files?
          Is a zip file sufficient?

          Thanks,
          Brett

            Hi,

I just realized that to me, the two issues above are not the same issue.

Issue 1: I have one file that seemed "sorter" than the rest - shown in the image.
issue 2: The main track was out of sync (but still the same length as the rest of the files).
It was off several milliseconds we lining up the kick drum from the main track to the track 1 that contains the kick drum.

Sorry if I was not clear on that.
I happy to have you look at both of them as the same issue, I had filed them separately because they felt like different issues to me. Sorry for that confusion.

Please let me know what other information you need from me at this time.

            Thanks,
            Brett

              Hi,

This is not a BlueBox problem at all, my bad, this was me forgetting that I had "warp" turned on when I import new files.

After looking at the files, they all were the same size for mon and the same size for stereo.
Given Ableton seemed to be out of sync with it, I realized two things:
              1) Audacity was just fine when I loaded them up.
              2) I forgot that I have auto-warping on in Ableton, so I turned off warping and all was well.

Very much my mistake - sorry for that.

Thank you for your time and I am sorry I forgot about having warping turned on when I load new files.
              Brett

No worries at all. Any time an issue is resolved it is s a good thing. Even when it is a user error. We all benefit from the info.

I love Live and use Warp. But it does alter audio and sometimes it is obvious.
