Bluebox doesn’t seem to be sending MIDI clock

    Firmware 1.2.7

When using TRS Bluebox receives clock, but nothing seems to be sent when I hit “play” on the Bluebox. I tested this going into an MPC (midi monitor shows nothing coming in) as well as using a WIDI Jack and a MIDI monitor on iOS. I have not tried USB MIDI yet.

Rolled back to 1.2.6 and 1.2.2 and both behave the same. Plugged the RK-006 into the USB port and am able to get clock out via the RK, but nothing via TRS. Booted into testing mode and loop back passed.

make sure you push the TRS all the way into the jack. It can be tight. You may check a different cable. I can verify that sync does work properly in 1.2.7 using my RK and several different cables. If you continue to have issues, please contact us directly for support.

Thanks, Steve. Multiple cables and TRS to MIDI adapters, all confirmed inserted all the way, still no go. I reached out directly.

Support resolved it. The manual states that the input TRS auto switches between type A and B, and I just assumed the same went for the output. This is incorrect, the output is strictly type B, but there is no mention of that in the manual.

I grabbed an A/B adapter and everything works as it should.

if I may offer a suggestion, please add the TRS type for both in and out to the manual.

Thanks to Steve and Lucas for getting me sorted.

I wonder if the A/B switching is purely a firmware thing or if it would need hardware.

I’m guessing that there has to be hardware that reverses the polarity. But I’m clueless and likely wrong.
