  • Bluebox + Beatbuddy: recording stops early

    Hey there.
    I recently bought a Bluebox as mixer and recorder for my home set up. So far so good. But when I use the Beatbuddy as MIDI clock source (so I can change tempo on it) and use it to control the Bluebox things get a bit weird. Whatever I do, after about 40s-60s the recorded files end suddenly although while recording the Bluebox seemed to be recording normally, as it should. If I start the recording from the Bluebox and leave the Beatbuddy off, everything works as expected. Is this maybe a sync issue or something like that? Has anybody had similar experiences with this combination of devices? I doesn't happen every time, especially not with short recordings, but if the recording is longer than, say, 1:30 it gets cut all the time Firmware is v1.27.

    Minimal (not) working setup:
    Beatbuddy MIDI out -> Bluebox MIDI in
    Beatbuddy stereo out -> Bluebox stereo in

    Okay, seems to be related to that issue: https://forum.1010music.com/forum/pr...ort-beta-1-1-2 or at least the solution works. If I open the files in a new project it plays through the whole file. Meh. That's a nasty bug.

      I am interested to know the data coming out of the beatbuddy as I do not own one. Clock? start/stop?

        The Beatbuddy sends clock and start/stop messages. I can try to capture the exact data flow with a computer if that helps.
        I have one update: if I tell the Beatbuddy to not send the stop message (and I stop the recording by pressing stop on the Bluebox), the Bluebox works as expected and it plays back the correct file length afterwards. I will try it later with other devices as MIDI master to see if it's a Beatbuddy-only issue.

          I’d also be interested in seeing a video and comparing to the files, etc. something is happening.

            So I investigated further. If I use the Blackbox als MIDI master I get the same behaviour. My test recording (1x mono + 1x stereo) is 2:24 long but the Bluebox plays only up to 1:26. If I import the files in another project (or on my computer) everything is fine, but if I open the project I originally recorded the files into, same thing. I can send you the project file for further investigation, if that helps.

            Edit: I can record a video as well, but there is not much to see. Or you tell me, what to focus on and I can try.

            The assets.xml contains:

            Code:
            <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
            <document>
                <session>
                    <cell type="assetlist">
                        <params tracktake="58"/>
                    </cell>

              I'm curious to watch your process and observe the bluebox, transport buttons, clock, etc. I believe others have reported something similar (not using a beatbuddy) so I am hoping to find a clue.

                Will do, but might take two or three days!

                    I wasn't able to provoke it reliably, that's why there is no video. But since I formatted my SD card and upgraded to v1.2.12 I did not have the issue any more.
