Best Y-splitter cables for Blue Box

HI - just wondering if anyone has found a good source of Y - Splitter cables for the Bluebox. Preferably with in the UK ....or Europe.

The type I am interested in and would rather use - is the adapter types. So a single 3.5mm Male TRS to 2 Female TS 6.5mm sockets (to split the left/right channels)
There is a surprising lack of these on the market. Plenty of headphone splitters and plenty of male to male versions.

Tempted to make them myself as I have a little experience with this and a small amount of gear but once you start pricing individual parts - it starts to cost just as much as bought cables.
Considering there are 6 ins and 3 outs = that's 9 cables at £10+ each ..... ouch!

Just sucks that the £550 investment in to the Blue Box actually requires another £100 to get set up with the right cables.

Any suggestions - hacks - ideas ??

I have to say that what you're looking for has been the hardest thing for me to find in a format that is good (over half of mine have ended up with shorts or otherwise stop working/break within a year or travel and regular set up/tear down usage) and a good fit (I've learned the hard way that most are too wide for the bluebox). They're also pretty unwieldy for the way I tend to arrange my hardware and wiring. I've mostly ended up doing it other ways like 3.5 TRS to 6.5 TRS male cables and then split via 6.5 TRS female to 2x 6.5 TS male.
Several of my instruments have two 6.5 TS outputs, for those instruments I would use a 3.5 TRS male to 2x 6.5 TS male so there is only 1 cable.
Lots of trial and error.

I wish I had only spent £100 on cables or that I was finished buying cables. No matter how many I have, every new setup finds me missing 1 or 2 cables or resorting to different adapters and dongles. It's the nature of hardware and not at all exclusive to the Bluebox. Even in the case of the bluebox, the device is only 50% responsible for each cable choice. Is the other device mono? Is the mono output balanced? Is it 1/8" or 1/4"? If it is stereo, does it have a single TRS output or 2 balanced TRS outputs or two TS outputs? Are the outputs 1/4" or 1/8"? Or XLR? Is the device 3 inches away or 9 feet away? Etc. Etc. Etc.

I have tons of ideas that I've tried but those ideas aren't applicable universally, they change with each setup. I'm currently using a DF Audio Minibay with the outputs going to the bluebox via 1/4" to 1/8" TRS cables.

There is a running joke at my house: "A package came for you in the mail today." "Cool, what is it?" "It's probably cables." Today, like many other days, it was funny because it was true. 4 new cables were delivered today.

I would suggest not buying HOSA splitters for the bluebox. HOSA makes great cables and splitters but the jack spacing on the bluebox is tight. Look for the Black Market splitter - or use the splitter we make. These should be available from our dealers.

I've found them to fit fine, as long as you orientate them onto their side edge upwards

HOSA makes splitters with various-sized ends. There is one that works - most do not.

All my gear has 6.5mm outputs on them - most of them stereo. So 3.5mm sockets on the splitters are no good for me.
I've been looking for and even considering making a patch bay interface to achieve this. A series of 6.5mm inputs on the back and match 3.5 TRS outputs on the front.

Any further thoughts on the topic very welcome!

All my gear has 6.5mm outputs on them - most of them stereo.

I would suggest 6.5mm male stereo to 3.5mm male stereo for those instruments. It is much easier and cleaner that way. Or the next best thing: 6.5mm female TRS to 3.5mm male TRS, which is still 2 cables and not ideal.

6 splitters gets messy quickly and stays messy every time you want to make changes.

What if you turn your idea around and get just a bunch of adapter plugs female 3.5-> male 6.3 TRS? They are available for just a few euros in 10-family packs @ the in the EU usual suspects.

I am using a set of Teenage Engineering split Y cables (1xmale TRS 3.5 -> 2xmale TS 3.5) – granted, not the cheapest ones – and, if needed, the adapter plugs mentioned above. This gives me the freedom of choice whether I want to attach instruments with 6.3 outs (then with plugs which are already sitting conveniently in the outs) or to record all the single instrument outs (3.5 TS) of my Arturia Drumbrute simultaneously (the only way to spread them into a stereo panorama).

Oh fine, I suppose I'd have to amend myself. :-) The Teenage Engineering Y cables I mentioned are actually TRS -> 2x TS.


Anyway, the small-to-large-plugs are actually to have dozen-wise for little money. They are actually TRS to TRS, which doesn't matter, AFAIK.
