Is there a way to get synthbox to remember the settings and sound it had loaded before it was last powered off?

Do you mean besides saving it as a preset?

i use for saving always Preset No.1, then if the Bitbox or Toolbox starts, i have always the last i was working on, that should be the same on Synthbox ?

Yes, I mean if I was working with preset 12, for example, and then shut off the module then when I power it back on Im back in preset 12 where I left off.

Saving it as preset 1 is a work around but cumbersome.

I would also prefer the module loaded it's previous state on startup, but that would require some memory allocation / auto-save on power down

I don't believe this would be much at all. A simple text( or data) file with the preset number that tells the os to load it similar to how preset 1 is loaded should be trivial to implement. The file could be created anytime a preset is loaded or saved.
