ADSR working intermittently

Hi, I have just got the Bitbox, however before I am able to use the device in compositions, I need to be able to het the ADSR working correctly. I seem having an issue with it following the instructions provided to it. For example I create a pad with a slow attack and long release, but this seems to be only working 25% of the time with the sound coming in abruptly, or cutting off suddenly.

I have looked through the manual and I cannot see what I am doing wrong, Please advise.
