  • internal sequencers and lfos?

If the mk2 processor is slightly better than the blackbox, then give us simple internal sequencers and a song mode! yeehaw

+1 for lfos and a sequencer as modulation sources like in the synthbox. These Would be really powerful additions.

+2. I'm using synthbox these days and is such a joy to modulate things with the sequencer.

I guess modulation sources like LFOs are pretty standard in soft synths these days, so it would be fair to expect them here. It should also be fairly easy to implement...

Please don't take this comment as arrogant or as if I'm trying to tell the people behind 1010music how to run their business, and also sorry to Toolbox owners, but I was thinking about this:

if 1010music decides to discontinue Toolbox and update Bitbox with a sequencer, they would offer a desktop and a eurorack version of "kinda" the same product (Bitbox/Blackbox). They could also focus more on improving the sequencer already found in the Blackbox.

While they discontinue their Toolbox, they would also rule the market...? Think about this: there is no sampler capable of doing what the Blackbox/Bitbox can do if you consider price, size and features. In the eurorack world there is no such sampler that is as powerful as the one offered by 1010music AND that includes a sequencer, so currently you need to get a Bitbox and a sequencer either from the same brand or most likely from a competitor. If a sequencer is introduced into Bitbox, who would ever buy a sequencer (from another brand)?
You need a sequencer? Get a Bitbox and for the same price you get a powerful sampler . You need a sampler? Get a Bitbox and you'll also get a powerful sequencer. Why would you ever want to buy "half" of that from another brand, for about the same price?
All in one, powerful, less hp, affordable.

In the standalone/tabletop market, things would stay as they currently are: there are a couple alternatives if you want to spend twice as much, but nothing as cool and small as the Blackbox.

Thanks for sharing that. You make some solid points and some interesting observations.

I came here just to say that I changed my mind lol

It would be amazing to have a sequencer and a clock into the Bitbox, but there would be limitations considering it has 4 outputs. So you could use 2 for stereo sample playback, 1 for a sequence and 1 for the clock, or maybe you would need 2 outputs for CV and gate of a single sequence. That would be great to sequence samples inside the Bitbox, but couldn't be considered a full-fledged sequencer.

In the end the Toolbox is still relevant and one of the best sequencers on the market, but I'd love to have seq+clock in the Bitbox

Hi Aaron, is there a firmware update planned in the near future for bitbox mk 2 with the sequencer functionality of blackbox? Thank you for answering.

How likely is it that bitbox will get a sequencer like blackbox?

I would be happy with at least some transport and bpm options. I saw that on the presets metadata you can change the default bpm, but would be cool to be able to do it on the device itself.

I would have been happy to buy a toolbox but now it is discontinued - and no sequencer on the bitbox.

Ye a good sequencer will be perfect. Just record from other externa gear like 303 and make some good arp or seq, and same for the moog ect. Or just record from eurorack. And have one out for seq or arp other stuff. Just need 1 or 2 keys to pitch within octave.
