You have 2 options for triggering a Slicer Pad. Both options allow for playing a selected/desired slice.
1. send the Single MIDI note assigned to the pad - use the Slice Seq or a mod source to change slice.
2. send chromatic notes from C2 to individually trigger each slice. In this case, there is no need to use a modulator to change slices because you do that by sending a different MIDI note.
Here is an explanation of what I am trying to achieve:
I am using the pad as a modulation source - It's playing a wav file with various CV signals on different slices.
I use it on a melody played on same midi channel, so ideally, it would be triggered on any midi on commands on that channel. I would like to select different slices with velocity or CC.
Your suggestion does unfortunately not work in this scenario, as I am playing different notes for the melody.
In this scenario, nothing happens when I set "Slice" to be modulated by Velocity or any other midi commands. It is always playing the same slice.
Is this not a bug? Would be amazing if you could make it work!
I see what you're saying - MIDI Note takes precedence for slice selection.
You might just have to trigger the modulation pad separately, via the Pad Channel (mine is set to MIDI channel 10) if possible, or a good old-fashioned gate.
Or perhaps you could configure a set of multisamples with different velocity layers? But then I think the modulation would end up getting repitched.
I'm sure there's a good, creative solution out there...
Thanks - this makes sense, but would only give 16 different modulation samples to choose between, as multi sampler only has 16 velocity layers max. Also, I would not be able to choose sample with CC - only velocity
I'll try simplifying my issue / be as precise as possible. (Firmware 2.2.3)
I am trying to modulate "slot x" with a modulation signal from "slot y" and be able to select different slices on both, using a single midi sequencer by assigning mod sources.
You can do this on the Micro, but when I set it up, it doesn't work.
